I spotted the pair amongst a larger herd, seemingly taking a break. Cape buffalo can appear menacing and are known to be capricious.

Buffalos and oxpeckers have a symbiotic relationship. Oxpeckers feed on parasites found on buffalos and warn buffalos of on-coming potential danger by giving high-pitched calls which the buffalo responds to. The buffalo hence has time to either fight or flee.
